Play your FPL wildcard without regret.
Your wildcard is the biggest structural decision of the season. One used well rebuilds your squad into a fixture window that compounds points for six weeks. One used reactively throws out four weeks of transfers and leaves you with a squad no better than the one you wildcarded out of. FPL Pilot treats the wildcard as a planning problem, not a panic button.
Target a fixture window, not a single week
Great wildcards buy into a six to eight gameweek window where the new squad faces consistently easier fixtures than the old one. FPL Pilot projects fixture runs for every team across the next six weeks using xG-adjusted FDR, then builds a squad whose cumulative xPts peaks in that window. The tool is not trying to find the highest scoring 15 on paper. It is trying to find the 15 that delivers the most points between now and the next chip.
Value building is a second chip
A wildcard is your best chance to catch price risers before they jump. Pilot prioritises players that are actively rising, so your new squad is not just projected for points, it is projected to gain 0.8m to 1.2m in team value over the following month. That buffer becomes a premium upgrade slot two chips later, effectively turning the wildcard into a compounding lever.
Chip synergy and the DGW trap
Wildcarding one to two weeks before a double gameweek sets you up for bench boost or triple captain. Wildcarding during the DGW wastes 14 transfers on a one-week setup. When is the best time to play my FPL wildcard? +
Play your wildcard when 4+ players need replacing and there is a clear fixture swing to target. Common sweet spots are around GW8, international breaks, and the DGW window. Avoid wildcarding reactively after one bad week.

Start with fixture difficulty over the next 6 gameweeks. Pick 3 to 4 premium players from teams with green runs, fill the midrange with high-xPts options, and use budget enablers who play every week.

How many transfers is a wildcard worth? +
