FPL Set-Piece and Penalty Takers 2026/27: All 20 Clubs

Data current as of: 24 July 2026, before a ball has been kicked in 2026/27. Coverage: All 20 clubs, primary and secondary duties. Prices are the confirmed 2026/27 launch prices.

Set-piece duty is the cheapest edge in FPL. A penalty is worth roughly 0.76 expected goals, a direct free kick 0.05 to 0.10, and corners feed about a quarter of all goals in the league. None of that is priced properly at launch, because the game prices players on last season’s points, not on the job they are about to be handed.

That gap is where the value sits. Below is every club’s duty list for 2026/27, then the specific players whose price does not reflect what they are about to be trusted with.

Penalty takers, all 20 clubs

Confidence is how firm the duty is. 3/3 means the club has effectively confirmed it, 2/3 means it is the expected order without a firm statement, 1/3 means it is a best guess at the backup.

The two players on all three duties

Only two players in the league hold first-choice penalties, corners and direct free kicks.

B.Fernandes (MUN, £12.0m) is one of them, which is most of the argument for a £12.0m midfielder. He turned that workload into 24 assists and 235 points last season, the highest assist tally in the game.

Szoboszlai (LIV, £7.0m) is the other, and he is half the price. He scored 160 points from 3,232 minutes last season without the penalty duty he now has. A nailed Liverpool midfielder on every dead ball at £7.0m is the single best structural pick in the game right now.

The £4.5m defender on penalties

Robinson (FUL, £4.5m) is a defender, and he is Fulham’s first-choice penalty taker at 3/3 confidence. That is not a typo and it is not a rotation guess. He played 1,487 minutes and returned 65 points last season with no penalties at all.

At the cheapest defensive price point, a starting full-back with clean sheet upside and spot kicks is a genuinely different asset from every other £4.5m defender. The risk is his minutes, not his duty.

Defenders on corners and free kicks

Set-piece duty turns a budget defender into an attacking returner. These are the primary duty holders who play at the back:

Cash (AVL, £4.5m) is the standout on price. He played 3,016 minutes last season for 117 points and eight clean sheets, and he takes the corners. At the second-cheapest defensive price bracket that is a starter with a genuine assist route.

Hall (NEW, £5.0m) takes both corners and direct free kicks for Newcastle. His 79 points last season understate the role he is walking into.

The cheap penalty takers

Four clubs have a first-choice penalty taker priced at £5.5m or less:

• Wright (COV, £5.5m), a forward at a promoted club
• McBurnie (HUL, £5.5m), same profile at Hull
• Clarke (IPS, £5.5m), Ipswich midfielder
• Diarra (SUN, £5.5m), Sunderland midfielder

Promoted-club penalty takers carry real risk. The team has to win penalties to make the duty worth anything, and Coventry, Hull and Ipswich have no Premier League baseline to judge. Diarra (SUN, £5.5m) is the safer version of the same idea, at a club that survived last season with 6 assists from him in 1,403 minutes.

Where the duty is shared

Two clubs are worth flagging as unresolved.

Arsenal have Saka (ARS, £9.5m) on penalties at 3/3 but Gyökeres (ARS, £7.5m) listed second at 2/3, and Rice (ARS, £7.5m) on both corners and free kicks. Rice returned 184 points and 18 clean sheets last season, and the dead-ball workload is a reason he stays underpriced as a midfielder.

Everton split theirs: Ndiaye (EVE, £6.0m) has penalties, Garner (EVE, £6.0m) has corners and free kicks and is the pen backup. Garner played 3,413 minutes last season, more than any other Everton outfielder, for 159 points. At the same price, the one with the dead-ball volume is the better bet.

Duties move in preseason. A manager hands the ball to someone else in a friendly, a new signing arrives in the last week of the window, and the list changes. Everything above reflects the confirmed picture as of 24 July 2026, four weeks before the GW1 deadline on 21 August. Check team news again before you lock your squad, especially at the promoted clubs where nothing has been tested.

The duties that will not move are the obvious ones. Haaland, Palmer, Saka and B.Fernandes are not losing their spot kicks. The value is one tier below that, in the £4.5m to £6.0m band where the price has not caught up with the job.
